Rich Thomsen

Rich Thomsen & SquareSpiral are an international electropop duo consisting of singer/songwriter Rich Thomsen (USA) and music producer Chris Upfield, aka SquareSpiral, (United Kingdom).


In late 2012, Rich Thomsen began working on interpretations of  Beck Hansen's Song Reader sheet music 'book'.  SquareSpiral discovered some of these recordings in 2013 and contributed to the final album with additional mixing, instrumentation, and mastering.  This led to Rich's summer 2014 release, "Reinvention - Selections from Beck Hansen's Song Reader". "Reinvention" was released in advance of Beck's own Song Reader recordings by Beck and other artists.




SquareSpiral (Chris Upfield)

The feature single from Reinvention, "Eyes That Say I Love You", started the duo in a new direction.  SquareSpiral remixed and produced a new version, leading to the sound featured in tracks like "Let's Dance Tonight" and "Invictus".    In 2015, Rich Thomsen & SquareSpiral will release an EP of electro-pop songs, featuring sounds influenced by 90s alternative and synthpop artists like Depeche Mode, Erasure, New Order, Information Society, and The Pet Shop Boys.
